EVERY DAY: AN EASY – FAST – AND CHEAP – RECIPE THAT SUITS EVERYONE
Fake fish is an original and tasty appetizer, very simple to make but highly effective.
This preparation lends itself well to giving space to the artistic vein of everyone, because the “fish” can be modeled and decorated according to your imagination and creativity.
The fake fish is ideal to prepare for the menu of a lunch or dinner where you have guests: they will be impressed!
Ingredients for 4 people: 680 g potatoes – 240 g tuna in oil – a bit of parsley, thyme, dill – salt and pepper – 1/2 lemon zest.
to garnish: a few grains of black and pink pepper – 7 sprigs thyme – salad (green).
for the mould: 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and a bit of butter.
To prepare the fake fish, start by boiling the potatoes, unpeeled and cut in half (in this way it will take less time to cook), in abundant cold salted water for about 12 minutes from when the boil begins.
In the meantime, drain the tuna well using a strainer and blend it with a mixer until an almost creamy consistency is obtained. When the potatoes are ready (check their cooking by testing the toothpick: they must be soft), peel them and pass them with the vegetable mill.
Add the tuna and mix the two ingredients very well, using a spatula: you will need to obtain a compact and homogeneous mixture. At this point add the thyme and dill, which you have previously cleaned and peeled, then also the chopped parsley and grated zest of half a lemon.
Mix well to mix all the ingredients and season with salt and pepper.
Now take a fish-shaped pan, grease it with a spoonful of oil and a knob of butter, then fill it with the tuna and potato mixture, leveling the surface well.
Place the mold in the refrigerator, covered with film, and let it rest for at least 2 hours.
Meanwhile, prepare a part of the garnish: cut a potato into very thin slices, washed and peeled, then put the slices obtained in the oven, sprinkle them with oil and salt and cook them, at maximum power, for 7-8 minutes, until golden brown.
Once the potatoes are cooked, set them aside to cool. After the necessary time, remove the fish from the refrigerator and lay it on a serving plate, where you have previously put the songino, cleaned and washed with care.
Start decorating the fish by placing the pink peppercorns to form the mouth, the black pepper grains to create the eye and the roasted potato slices to form the fish scales.
Ultimate by placing thyme sprigs to draw the outline of the head and decorate the tail. Your fake fish is ready to be served on the table: you will surprise your guests for the originality of the presentation!
