Saving at home – Shortcrust pastry

Yesterday we went for a recipe with a frozen shortcrust pastry base.

As already mentioned it is not difficult to make it at home. From today a three day special on SHORT PASTRY, we will see how to make it traditional or without butter.

Here is the traditional recipe. Basic recipe for the preparation of numerous pies and biscuits The shortcrust pastry recipe is among the most used in pastry, quick and easy, it will allow you to prepare many tasty desserts.

Let’s start:


Ingredients for 4 people: 200 g of flour 80 g of butter 110 g of sugar 1 egg 1 yolk


To prepare an excellent shortcrust pastry, let the butter soften at room temperature so that it can be mixed more easily with the other ingredients. Mix flour and sugar and arrange them in the middle of a pastry board.

In the center put the butter into small pieces, the whole egg and the yolk, a pinch of salt.

Work the ingredients quickly with your hands until you get a homogeneous mixture. Wrap the dough in cling film and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least an hour. Remove the dough, remove the film, roll it out with a rolling pin a few millimeters and place it in a buttered pan.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 ° for about twenty minutes to obtain an excellent “shell” to be filled with custard, fruit and other ingredients that you like.
