TANGERINE AND POPY SEEDS LOAF
Ingredients for 1 loaf: 150 g tangerines – 300 g tangerine juice – 300 g flour, plus the ingredients needed for kneading – 1 sachet of 7 g baking powder with rapid action – 1 tablespoon poppy seeds – oil to grease the bowl and the baking pan – flour to be put on the loaf (optional)
Also today I propose a bread recipe. As for the preceding recipes, the advice is to prepare it in the evening.
The Tangerine scent makes this bread very special.
Enjoy your meal!
Drain the slices of tangerines and store the juice in a scoop. Cut the slices into 1 cm pieces and put a bowl. Add the flour, yeast and poppy seeds to the pieces of tangerine and stir.
Add warm water to the Mandarin juice that you have put aside, until you reach 160 ml of liquid. Make a fountain in the middle of the dry ingredients and gradually add the liquid, working the dough with a wooden spoon. Continue until you have a slightly sticky dough. Just flour the working surface and spill over the dough. Knead it and roll it out for 10 minutes. Grease slightly the inside of the bowl, put it back inside the dough, cover it with a clean cloth and let it grow until it doubles in size. It will take at least half an hour, but the time varies depending on the temperature in the room.
When the dough is leavened, remove the air by spilling it on the lightly floured work surface and give it the shape of a ball. Lightly grease a 1/2 kg baking pan (about 17 x 7 x 6 cm), then put in the dough, cover again and let rise for another half an hour.
Just before the end of the second leavening, preheat the oven to 220º C.
Cut the upper part of the dough, sprinkle some of the leftover flour on it to give it a rustic look and put the pan in the oven for 30 minutes. You’ll find out if it’s ready when by hitting the bottom it sounds empty.
Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool on a grill.
