Saving at home – Borek stuffed with meat (Turkey)


Hi everyone!

Boreks are puff pastries usually stuffed with cheese.

Today we will try this variant with meat stuffing… the taste is really unique, you must try it!!!

Let’s start:


Ingredients for 4 people: 90 ml extra virgin olive oil – 450 g spicy green peppers, seeded and roughly chopped – 4 g pepper – 1 large golden onion, diced – Fine salt and fresh ground black pepper – 913 g minced beef – 158 ml vegetable oil + a little to grease – 5 large eggs – 250 ml whole milk – 1 (450 g) package of Fillo paste – 15 g black cumin seeds


In a large deep frying pan (wok type), heat the extra virgin olive oil over moderate heat. Add the peppers, pepper, onion, and salt. Sauté, stirring frequently, until the onion has softened (about 10 minutes).

Add the meat and cook until the liquid has evaporated, in about 10 minutes.

Season with salt and pepper. Continue cooking over a moderate heat, stirring occasionally for about 15 minutes. Transfer everything in a bowl and let it cool.

Heat the oven to 200 º C and grease a 22×33 cm baking pan .

In a medium bowl, beat eggs, milk and 125 ml of vegetable oil. Lay a sheet of phyllo dough on a work surface and brush with the egg mixture; repeat until you have a stack of 2 sheets.

Transfer the pile on the baking pan and spread a third of the beef mixture. Repeat the stratification two more times with the sheets of phyllo dough brushed and stuffed with beef, then finished with a stack of phyllo dough also brushed with the egg mixture.

Cut the excess phyllo dough and fold it under to seal the edges. Brush the top of the burek with the egg mixture and sprinkle with cumin seeds.

Bake and cook until golden, for about 45 minutes. Let the burek rest for 20 minutes before serving.
