Saving at home – Potato pie

Are you looking for a recipe for when you lack imagination between the stove, but not the desire to taste something good and tasty? Well, this is a must have in your recipe book that is good to know how to prepare in every occasion.

Potatoes, mozzarella, cooked ham (which you can easily replace with turkey or bresaola), nutmeg, pepper and mint will join in your kitchen for an appetizing and easy to make recipe.

The dish we’re talking about is the potato pie.

Let’s start:

POTATO PIE

Ingredients for 4 people: 1 kg potatoes – 2 Mozzarella – 1 box of cooked ham (or turkey or bresaola) – 1 clove of garlic – salt – nutmeg – mint – pepper – 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil – 1 large egg

Preparation:

First wash the potatoes, peel and slice them to a thickness of 5 millimeters. Put them in a large bowl and season with salt, pepper, nutmeg and garlic. Mix everything well, then take a circular baking pan and butter the bottom, or line with parchment. Arrange over the potato slices seasoned so as to form a nice compact layer.

With the help of the kitchen scissors, cut the mint leaves on the surface.

At the end of the operation, also lay the slices of cooked ham (or turkey or bresaola), and the diced mozzarella.

Cover the preparation with other slices of seasoned potatoes. Finally, sprinkle with chopped mint.

Separately take a bowl, put the egg and beat with 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of salt. Work the egg, pour it on the last layer of potatoes and bake the preparation in the 0preheated oven at 250° C for about 45 minutes.

Enjoy your potato pie as you prefer: hot and streaky or colder for a stronger texture.

      1. Solo la minima parte. Mai “vissuto” in Italia. Boss (moglie) e io ci siamo goduti tre settimane in Italia molti anni fa. Prima ho studiato l’italiano solo per scoprire quanto poco capissi. Gli italiani sono stati molto gentili e dopo avermi lasciato lottare brevemente, hanno insistito per parlare inglese. Il tuo sito mi incoraggia non solo a provare nuovi cibi ma anche a lavorare (lentamente) sul mio italiano. Molto grazie.
