Saving at home – fried breaded provolone

Are you looking for a practical appetizer but that is also very tasty? So, here’s a perfect recipe, the fried breaded provolone.  

It is prepared quickly and easily, few ingredients are needed and in no time you will be able to eat a really delicious dish.

Let’s start:


Ingredients for 4 people: 10 slices of Provolone cheese (or other cheese that melts but that it’s not too soft) – 2 whole eggs – 100 g Breadcrumbs – 50 g Pecorino cheese – Salt and Pepper – Sunflower Oil – little flour


Start by cutting the provolone in slices about 2 cm thick.

Then cut the slices in half vertically so as to obtain nice triangles. Put the slices in the fridge and let them rest for at least two hours. When it’s time to prepare the breaded provolone, remove the triangles from the fridge and dry them well on both sides with a paper towel.

In a bowl beat the eggs with the salt, some pepper and grated Pecorino cheese. Place the flour in another bowl and the breadcrumbs in another. Take the pan that you usually use for frying and put on the heat with plenty of oil. Pass the triangles in the flour, then in the egg and finally in the breadcrumbs.

Check with a toothpick that the oil is at a temperature and fry the breaded provolone. A couple of minutes per side will be enough. 

Drain with a skimming ladle, let dry for a minute and serve the triangles hot.
