Saving at home – Carnival fritters

EVERY DAY: AN EASY – FAST – AND CHEAP – RECIPE THAT SUITS EVERYONE

Hi everyone!

We are approaching the Carnival and you want a typical recipe of the period? Then you have to try to prepare the Sfrappole (which in other Italian regions are called chiacchere, or carnival fritters in English).

The origin of this dessert comes from the gastonomic tradition around the area of Bologna and it’s also prepared for the Emilian carnival.

Simple to prepare, everyone likes them, young and old.

Let’s start:

CARNIVAL FRITTERS

Ingredients for 4 people: 500 g flour – 20 g softened butter – 2 eggs – 1 dl orange juice – 2 tablespoons brandy (optional) – a pinch of salt – a little seed oil – 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Preparation:

Pour 500 g of flour on the table.

Add a pinch of salt, 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, 2 eggs, 20 g of softened butter, 1 dl of fresh orange juice and 2 tablespoons of brandy (optional).

Knead the ingredients well, working the dough for quite sometime, until it is smooth and soft.

Form a ball, wrap it in film and let it rest for 30 minutes. Roll out to get a thin dough with a rolling pin.

Cut the dough in squares.

Fry them, a few at a time, in abundant oil, turning them halfway through cooking: they must be crisp, but still clear.

Drain the fritters, sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.

Enjoy your meal!
