Saving at home – Awamaat (Lebanon)

Hi everyone!

Here we are with a dessert typical of the Lebanese cuisine: the awamaat. These pancakes covered with a layer of sugar syrup, are not only very easy to make but they are also a real delicacy!

Let’s start:

AWAMAAT

Ingredients for 4 people: 1 kg flour – orange blossom water (you can find it in ethnic shops) – 15 g fresh yeast – 1.5 kg sugar – seed oil – 75 cl water

Preparation:

Prepare a batter with the flour, the yeast and the water (it must turn out quite soft).

Let it rest so that it doubles its volume, for about half an hour.

Prepare the syrup with water, sugar and orange blossom water and let cool.

Heat the oil and toss a teaspoon of batter at a time in boiling oil. Dip the hot pancakes in the syrup and serve.
