Saving at home – Italian tomato soup (pappa di pomodoro)

This is a poor recipe that originates from the Italian region of Tuscany.

ITALIAN TOMATO SOUP (pappa al pomodoro)

Ingredients: 1 red onion – 1 kg of chopped tomatoes (kind for tomato sauce) – 3 slices of diced bread (best if from the day before) – 1 cup of broth – salt – fresh basil

Fry a thinly sliced ​​red onion in oil, then add a kilo of chopped tomatoes and after about ten minutes also add the three slices of diced bread.

Pour the broth until it is covered, add salt and cook for about half an hour, stirring a little.

Finally complete with raw oil and fresh basil.
