La maggior parte delle persone ha eseguito due semplici sottrazioni: prima 49-36, ottenendo 13 come risultato e poi 36-13, ottenendo 23. Ma 23 non è la risposta esatta. Qualche mente più allenata, invece, ha eseguito un’operazione decisamente più complessa, che ha portato, incredibilmente alla soluzione. Si parte da una prima sottrazione: 49-36= 13. Poi si divide questa cifra per due, ottenendo 6,5, e il risultato si somma a 36.

SOLUTION:

42,5

Most people performed two simple subtractions: first 49-36, getting 13 as a result and then 36-13, getting 23. But 23 is not the correct answer. Some more trained minds, however, performed a much more complex operation, which led, incredibly, to the solution.  We start from a first subtraction: 49-36= 13. Then we divide this figure by two, obtaining 6,5, and the result is added to 36.

SOLUZIONE:

5 centesimi per la palla e 1,05 dollari per la mazza, che sommati insieme danno il prezzo indicato nella domanda, ovvero 1,10 dollari. Ma come si giunge alla soluzione?

Basta fare un’equazione in cui il prezzo della palla è rappresentato dall’incognita X. Dunque otterremo che X+ (100+X)= 110. Semplificando si ottiene 2X+100=110. Poi si procede sottraendo 100 da una parte e dall’altra dell’equazione e si arriva a 2X=10. Per ottenere X basta dividere 10 per 2 e si ottiene 5: ecco la soluzione del quesito di logica che fa impazzire tutti.

SOLUTION:

Five cents for the ball and $1.05 for the bat, which together give the price indicated in the application, or $1.10. But how do we come to the solution?

Just make an equation in which the price of the ball is represented by the unknown X. So we will get that X+ (100+X)= 110. Simplifying you get 2X+100=110. Then you subtract 100 from one side and the other of the equation and you get 2X=10. To get X just divide 10 by 2 and you get 5: here is the solution of the logic question that drives everyone crazy.
